Turramurra High School

Turramurra High School is a large public comprehensive co-educational high school of approximately 1230 students, operated by the New South Wales Department of Education and Communities , located in South Turramurra, a residential area on the North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1967, although the current premises weren't occupied until 1968, it adjoins the Lane Cove National Park. The school has links with nearby Macquarie University and the Whitehouse Insititute of Design as well as local business organisations. The current school principal is Stephanie McConnell.BandTurramurra High School has a reputation for outstanding musical achievement. The comprehensive band program enables students to actively participate in a music program that delivers an enriched musical experience, and a sense of teamwork.Concert Band 1 is the highest-level concert band, performing classical and contemporary pieces.Concert Band 2 also performs classical and contemporary pieces, at the second-highest level, with some competition but with a greater emphasis on school and community performances.Stage Bands 1, 2 and 3 are smaller groups of musicians from the brass, woodwind and percussion families that play primarily jazz-oriented pieces. Stage Band 1 is the senior jazz group.SportsTurramurra High School holds annual athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals and students who compete in these events regularly go on to various inter school, regional and State level competitions.
